Kalugala Gerandi Ella is a cluster of waterfalls located in Kandy, Sri Lanka that offers all nature lovers and adventure seekers a serene and picturesque natural escape. Nestled in the lush hills of the Kandy district, Gerandi Ella is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Sri Lanka, with a height of approximately 240-250 m. 

The journey to Gerandi Ella is an adventure in itself, as you must trek through dense forests and traverse rocky terrain to reach the waterfall. However, the trek is well worth the effort, as the stunning views along the way are breathtaking.

At the waterfall itself, you are treated to a mesmerizing sight of water cascading down a series of rocky ledges, surrounded by a lush green forest. The sound of the water is incredibly soothing, and the mist created by the waterfall provides a refreshing respite from the warm Sri Lankan weather. You can enjoy a mouthwatering lunch while observing many other mountains like Namunukula, Piduruthalagala, Nawangala while being at the top of the waterfall.  

If you are an adventurous soul, Gerandi Ella is a must visit waterfall for it also offers opportunities for swimming and cliff jumping in the natural pool at the base of the waterfall. However, you should exercise caution as the rocks can be slippery and the currents can be strong.

Start trekking up to the Knuckles summit on a trail through tea plantation, pygmy forest, cloud forests, and plateau with grassland. This experience is available at Sadun Ella, Kitulgala – A waterfall hidden away in the lush greenery of nature, it also offers a breathtaking view of the rainforest at the peak of the fall. A small hike to the top is required for this activity & you will be set to begin!

Sandun Ella is a beautiful waterfall at Kitulgala. The road to Sandun Ella lays in Belilena road which is a famous large cave situated in Sri Lanka as well as it holds evidence of a lost generation of Sri Lanka approximately around 12,000 years old.

Miles or 234 sq.KM of land extent. This mountain range is called as Knuckles is because when it’s seen from Kandy the mountain range looks like the knuckles of a clenched fist. The Sri Lankan ancient name for this mountain is “Dumbara Mitiyawatha” which means “The Misty Valley”. Giving this mountain an extra speciality, it was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010. All the routes to Knuckles are covered in thick forests and large number of prime scenic sceneries giving the justice to self-preserve itself. This mountain range is a scenic Paradise for the hikers which will make unforgettable beautiful memories as well as giving a wonderful adventurous experience.

A CSR project with a difference. The Hello Delft project was organized to provide islanders with fresh drinking water. It was a day of hard work and fun activities to make a memorable experience.

Alagalla Mountain Range or “Potato Mountain Range” bordering the Central and Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka acted as a natural barrier to protect the Central part of Sri Lanka from invasions of Western powerful nations such as Portuguese, Dutch and English for approximately five centuries (1505 – 1948).
The peak of the mountain is about 1100 meters above sea level and the total climb from Ihala Kotte is about 800m. When travelling to Kandy, this mountain can be easily recognized with his height compared to other mountain ranges around him, giving the travellers an astonishing view of Mother Nature.

Heading up the mountain, the hikers will have to encounter with Leeches. The wet climate of the mountain, makes a perfect living home for leeches to grow. The peak can be reached by mysterious climb through the Savannah-like-grass and the beauty of the nature. When the hikers hit the top of this mountain they’ll witness the breathtaking surrounding sceneries of other mountain ranges, traditional paddy farming, plantations, historical places, religious places and the city of Kandy.

Knuckles Waterfall Expedition 2017

A memorable adventure at the majestic Knuckles mountain range. There were a variety of activities and experiences.

Wangedigala and Wangedigala mountain is located in a beautiful village called Kalupahana. The name Wangedigala is the Sinhala (Language) name for “Pestle”. It is given the name Wangedigala (Pestle) because the top of the mountain looks like a Pestle. Wangedigala and Wangedigala Mountain are two different peaks where most locals and as well as Tourist hikers consider as the same peak. Wangedigala is a rock platform on the left side of the mountain that resembles a stage area and offers exquisite view of the surrounding area.

Hiking through the Pine forest of Wangedigala, hikers will experience the beauty of mountain ranges around them and breathtaking sceneries of Bambarakanda Fall and Lanka Fall which are falling from the neighbour mountain of Wangedigala. Hikers will get to cross Bambarakanda Falls from a rope bridge which will also be an exciting experience.

While enjoying the terrains of mountain Wangedigala, hikers will require to climb on steep mountain slopes covered with Pine needles. Extra care should be exercised as this can become slippery when dry.
