Want to experience the beauty of the Negombo Lagoon at your own pace? 

Kayaking is the perfect solution. No rushing past the scenery surrounding you before you have time to take it all in. Experience the powerful pull of your oar in the calm water as you paddle yourself through the quiet beautiful lagoon surrounded by birds and mangroves on either side.

We will set off in the evening as this will allow you the chance to gaze at an amazing display of colours in the sky as the Sun sets for the day. While enjoying this psychedelic exhibit of the creativity of nature, look around and see if you can observe Egrets, Herons, Kingfishers and Cormorants gliding gracefully around and above the surrounding waters.

Departure from the docks will be at 4.30 pm (1630 hrs). Please be there so that we can set off at the best time to see the sights and get back before it’s dark.

Don’t worry if you’ve never done this before. We have tailored the experience for complete beginners and upwards. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to go on an adventure.

Jump on aboard your kayak and leave your worries behind as you take on the longest river in Sri Lanka. 

Encounter thrilling scenes of wildlife that are hiding along the banks of the river and completely immerse yourself in the natural wonder that surrounds you. We will make camp at some beautiful and serene locations. Your expedition takes you through the Wasgamuwa National Park, but this is only the first step before you get thrown into the beautiful landscape that sits on either side of the Mahaweli river bank. Imagine the scenario in which you will be sitting on the sand with your feet up while elephants majestically cross the river or when  you witness elegant eagles swoop down to catch fish. 

This expedition is nature lovers' dream and has to be an essential item on any traveler's bucket list.

Tough

Manampitiya Bridge

Your journey will begin from Kandy roughly somewhere between 8 am to 9 am where you will be picked up and driven to Mahiyangana, the starting point where a hearty and wholesome lunch is waiting for you.

Our team of professionals will provide you with comprehensive pre-expedition training and then it will be time to take off down the river, taking on the exciting rapids and tides of the Mahaweli. 
As the day comes to an end, the expedition will come to a halt for the day, and tea will be served alongside the riverbank as we prepare the campsite for the night.
A hearty meal or a BBQ dinner will be served (as per your choice) as you replenish both your body and soul.

Kickstart

Time for a new day. Awaken your senses with the sounds of birds singing all around. 

You can start your day with a light breakfast and a cup of coffee (or tea). 
Jump back on to your kayaks and glide across vibrant river terrain and encounter the wild surroundings up close and personally. 

As midday approaches, so does lunch, and this becomes an affair of camaraderie as you and the whole expedition crew join our team in preparing a feast prepared with fresh ingredients. 

Take a stroll through the Wasgamuwa National Park and take a moment to indulge your senses in the awe-inspiring beauty of the landscape. 
Time to paddle your way along the river to the campsite for the night, where a freshly brewed cup of ginger tea awaits you. The day comes to a close beside a blazing campfire that is kept alive throughout the night. Join in the fun with stories of your experiences shared across a scrumptious dinner and a song or two to reinvigorate your soul before you get some sleep.

Fun continues…

The final day becomes bittersweet as you paddle on through more amazing landscapes while you try to take in everything for one last time. Your memories will be filled with vivid color and beauty as you reminisce about the thrill, the camaraderie and the fantastic encounters you've had along the way. Civilization slowly starts to make its mark along the river banks, and you can see how the great river has become an important part of those who live beside it. The sight of the Manampitiya bridge will signal the end of this epic adventure and as you drag your kayaks to shore for the last time, take a minute to make sure you have packed everything. Following lunch, you'll be escorted back to Kandy around 6 or 7 pm.

Kandy

The rainforest districts are subject to unpredictable rainfall and this will cause a rise in the water level in these areas which can lead to landslides and other natural disasters.

No time for anything. Busy lives and schedules have taken over and we have forgotten to stop and take a breath. We're glad you found us. We have the perfect solution for you. For just an investment of two days from you we can take you out of the ordinary into the magical world of nature. 

The Knuckles mountain range is a spectacular combination of natural beauty and adventure. Nature has given this miracle to us asking for nothing in return. As we set out on our journey we should carry with us appreciation and gratitude for this gift and respect and pay homage to our mother Earth.

This two-day trek into the mountain consists of walking a distance of 17 km and 15 km respectively. While you travel along, feel energised and forget to feel fatigued as you will be too busy taking in all the sights around you.

This will be an opportunity for you to witness breathtaking sights and feel the wonders of nature firsthand. Sadly, we may go through our whole lives without seeing the majesty of tall trees growing unencumbered to towering heights, magnificent waterfalls crashing down the side of the mountain, and peaceful and calming rivers flowing beside us. The feathered and furry residents of the wild will be there for you to witness in all their glory.

The Forestry Department of Sri Lanka has implemented a reforestry project, an initiative taken to ensure that these gifts of nature will be carefully preserved for years to come. The cultivation of many different exotic trees and plant life with Cardamom plants in the undergrowth. We urge you to read carefully through our terms and conditions to get an idea of what exactly is needed from you.

Moderate

Knuckles Mountain Range

As we venture out into the untamed borders of nature, anything can happen. We have prepared the below itinerary so you can make the necessary preparations for your journey.  

Beginning from Kandy at 7:30 AM, our journey will carry us past several noted sights along the way.  The Victoria reservoir, Kandyan home gardens, terraced rice fields, mid-country tea plantations, and exotic wood reforesting projects to name a few.

After reaching the starting point we will begin our trek up to Corbert's Gap Viewpoint, passing tea plantations, and pygmy forests, and witness the cloud forests descending over the tops of the hills and a large variety of animals and birds, a large number of them endemic.

A picnic lunch will be organized around 1:00 PM after which you can choose to walk or take a drive up to the Sri Lanka Trekking Sky Camp for dinner and your night camp accommodation.

The sun rises on another beautiful day. After breakfast, we will begin our journey at 8:00 AM and continue our hike. 

Look out over the edge of Mini Worlds End and feel the breathtaking beauty of the sheer drop down over the edge. Experience the thrill of being on top of the world. 

Time for a refreshing meal and dip in a cool flowing river which will be a perfect complement to the trek.

We'll now set off on the last leg of our journey to reach our starting point and head back to Kandy where we'll leave you with memories of an unforgettable journey.

Two Day Hike through the Knuckles Mountain Range

The Knuckles Mountain Range is an incredible place to explore while in Sri Lanka. It offers the chance to witness an abundance of wildlife and unlimited opportunities to experience real adventure. 

The Range consists of 34 mountains which range from 900 to 2,000 metres in elevation. The surrounding flora and fauna consists of grasslands, tropical montane evergreen forests, cloud forests and an astonishing array of animals. 

While there are around 34 different hiking trails throughout the Knuckles Mountain Range, today let us explore the hiking trail to Duwili Ella which is a 16-kilometer hike and is one of the most difficult and challenging hikes available. It is important to be well prepared for this hike, to be able to face any adverse situations. This hike is very challenging and cannot be completed without a high level of fitness. This should not dissuade you from attempting a hike in the Knuckles Mountain Range. We suggest that you try out some of our more moderate level hiking experiences such as the Knuckles One day trek, The 5 peaks package and our Two days Knuckles hiking package.

The Duwili Ella trek is considered the pinnacle of all the hiking trails in the Knuckles Range. It is a 40-metre waterfall hidden deep within the jungle. The most defining feature of Duwili Ella is the cave behind the waterfall, where we will have our overnight camping experience. 

The trail is famous for its steep ascents, narrow paths, and astounding views. The Knuckles Mountain Range has been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, due to its massive and diverse wilderness area. You will also witness more sites of interest such as the Walpolamulla Village - The smallest Village in Sri Lanka, Kaludiyapokuna Waterfall, Dumbara Waterfall, Infinity pool, Sansun Waterfall in addition to other streams, lakes, waterfalls, birds, misty mountains, and even elephants.

Extreme

- Our journey begins with a complimentary pickup from either Kandy or Dambulla. (Pickup from other locations can be arranged subject to an additional charge)
- We will arrive at the Knuckles Forest Entrance and be issued the entrance tickets for admission to the trail. 
- Are you ready? We will now begin our adventurous trek to Duwili Ella. 
- After a few hours of walking we can take a break and enjoy a natural bath and relieve our hunger with a delicious prepared packet of lunch under the shelter of the jungle. 
- Now that we are all rested let us continue the hike our hike on the trail to Duwili Ella
- We have successfully reached our destination. It’s now time to set up camp at Duwili Cave or Dumbara waterfall, relax, and take in the beautiful surroundings
- Our Dinner will be prepared and enjoyed at the campsite, under the majestic starlit sky

Duwili Ella & Dumbara Ella Trails

- Good Morning and welcome to a new day. We hope the excursion of the previous day hasn’t left you too exhausted and weary as you pleasantly wake up to the sounds of nature and the delicious smells of breakfast being prepared at the campsite.
- Let us continue our adventure with a Hike to Kaludiyapokuna Waterfall
- Come take some time to enjoy and explore the Sansun Waterfall (Secret Waterfall) and the Infinity Pool and get ready to enjoy lunch amid the scenic beauty.
- We are at the last leg of our adventure. Prepare yourselves for the trek back to Walpolamulla village, where we have the opportunity to explore the smallest village in Sri Lanka.
- Our adventure is complete. We hope you feel the satisfaction and contentment of a successfully completed challenge as we travel back to your drop-off at Kandy or Dambulla or preferred location.

Waterfall Exploration and Departure

We have prepared for you an experience filled with the best of what the beautiful village of Meemure has to offer. Treks through the jungle, discovering hidden waterfalls and testing your endurance in a series of water-based adventure activities. We will spend the night under the open sky in a well-equipped campsite with delicious aromatic barbeque meals and a warm glowing campfire.

This adventure is planned out over two days. If you have more time why not check out our three-day package and make it an all-round explosion of fun?

Known as one the most remote villages in Sri Lanka, Meemure is located bordering the Kandy and Matale districts. The population of the village is approximately 420, and it can only be accessed via one road. As a result of this, the village has remained isolated and has maintained a very traditional culture dating back 500 years. 

The closest city to Meemure is Hunnasgiriya which is 40km away. The road from Hunnasgiriya to Meemure is paved with breathtaking views of thick green jungles,  hills and towering mountains and waterfalls.

The meals we have prepared for you are all using ingredients that are cultivated in the village and homes of the villagers and also sourced from the nearby jungles.

We recommend you leave the ordinary behind and take a break from civilization. Opt for our campsite accommodation where you can experience freedom from the constraints and limits of modern life. We can also provide guest house accommodation if preferred.

__The road to Meemure has been repaired due to its popularity as a tourist destination. It is now possible to drive your private vehicles to the village without concern. However, we are also prepared to provide transport subject to an additional charge.__

Meemure

We will begin our journey at our base location in Meemure where you will be transported to the village. (or arrive in your private vehicle)

It’s time to satisfy your hunger with a delicious traditional lunch served in buffet-style courtesy of the skilled village chefs at Meemure. 

Now switch on your adventure mode and prepare yourselves to set off into the jungle.

Our journey will bring us up close to several waterfalls in the wild jungle of the Knuckles range where we can witness the true power and splendour of nature. Our trail will end at the foot of the beautiful, tall and majestic Diyakaralla Waterfall.

Time to check in for the night. Choose between a night out in the fresh open air with a warm fire to accompany you or check into your guest house accommodation.

Known as one the most remote villages in Sri Lanka, Meemure is located bordering the Kandy and Matale districts. The population of the village is approximately 420, and it can only be accessed via one road. As a result of this, the village has remained isolated and has maintained a very traditional culture dating back 500 years.

Departure from the docks will be at 5.30 am (0530 hrs). Please be there so that we can set off in time to watch the sun rising over the tops of the surrounding mangroves.

Wake up with the world at sunrise in a Kayak. 

One of the most tranquil locations to visit in Sri Lanka is the Negombo Lagoon. If you’re looking for an interesting and relaxing day out, this is the perfect opportunity for you. The fresh water of the lagoon is mainly provided by the rivers Dandugam Oya and Ja-Ela. The Negombo Lagoon and its coastal environment have had a long association with the fishery industry and you will see many sights associated with the day-to-day activities of fishermen. 

Our main attraction on this tour will be the visit to monkey island. A small area of land is mainly inhabited by monkeys who are surprisingly friendly and used to human interaction due to the large number of tourists and visitors in this area. They delight in being fed with fruits and other treats. 

Our tour will take approximately 45 minutes each way. Once we reach the island we will have refreshments while we enjoy the scenery and wildlife. We estimate the whole trip will take around 3 hours in total. 

The experience is well suited to any group as a personal or corporate outing. A relaxing ride while enjoying beautiful sceneries of mangroves and lagoon wildlife in a quiet, peaceful environment. Let's meet up in Negombo for the start of our journey.

As we set sail on the lagoon, enjoy the beautiful surroundings and wildlife. You can see a large number of birds including cormorants, herons, egrets, gulls, terns and other waders. The mangroves are productive and sensitive ecosystems which are home to many different varieties of wildlife.

Monkey Island tour in Negombo

Take the day off to visit a magical island of monkeys. 

Not called Sri Lanka’s most dangerous mountain for nothing. This climb is far removed from the usual climbing attractions at Knuckles. Standing at a height of 1310 meters makes it only the 14th highest peak in Sri Lanka, but every experienced climber has declared it the most difficult to summit. The literal translation of Lakegala is the Rock of Lanka. 

Lakegala has a unique triangular shape, which is its most prominent feature and is visible from miles away. Most importantly, unlike its neighboring mountains, Lakegala is the only mountain in the Knuckles mountain range that requires rock climbing techniques to reach the summit. Which means that it is the most challenging climb to attempt in Sri Lanka. Because of its challenging terrain and steep inclines, Lakegala attracts adventure enthusiasts and experienced climbers worldwide.

Overnight Stay

Return-way transportation from Hunnasgiriya to Meemure for either one day or two days. Our tuk-tuks have a maximum occupancy of three passengers, while our cabs can accommodate up to ten passengers.

We will begin our journey from Meemure Village at 6 am, which is where we find the mountain's safest and most popular access road. You can also see the triangular shape of the mountain from the middle of Meemure village.

The first leg of our journey begins with a 5.2 km hike to reach the bottom of Lakegala, and this is the easy part. 

Before we attempt to start climbing, our team will give you a Safety briefing and information on what to expect on this journey. 

Time to start the ascent. We will use scrabbling techniques to take us to the summit.  

We made it! Take this time to enjoy your achievement and take in spectacular views of the Knuckles mountain range, the Dumbara forest, and the surrounding villages. The area has over 50 waterfalls and streams, including the Garadigala Falls, Bambaragath Oya Falls, Dust Falls, Hasalaka Oya Falls, and Huluganga Falls. 

It’s not over yet. We now have a 70 foot abseiling challenge prepared for you to get the best out of this journey. 

We hope you aren’t fully exhausted yet. We still have a hike back to bottom of Lakegala and then back to Meemure from there. You can do it!

The Dutch canal, which is also known as the Hamilton canal, runs all the way from Puttalam to Colombo, passing through Negombo. It was originally built in the 17th century by the Dutch to transport cinnamon and other goods. The British later improved it in the early 19th century to drain salt water out of the Muthurajawela wetlands.

This canal is about 14.5 km long and runs parallel to the coast, closer to the sea than the old canal. It has a rich history and biodiversity, as it passes through various scenic landscapes, such as mangroves, marshes, coconut plantations, and fishing villages. 

Many people come to enjoy boat rides, birdwatching, fishing, and sightseeing along this historical waterway. There are many sights to see as you journey along the canal including famous landmarks such as the Dutch Fort, the St. Mary’s Church, and the Negombo Fish Market.

Our journey begins from the Port City in Colombo and you can see views of the city and the harbour as we make our way to the canal. The trip will be headed by our experienced captain who has travelled here all the way from the United States and will take you on a comfortable and enjoyable journey on a modern cruise boat which can accommodate up to 6 people.

We will travel a short distance to Port City and head to the docks where we will meet our captain.

Along the way you can enjoy the views of the Colombo city, Port City and the harbour as we head on towards Negombo. Once we enter the Canal you will be treated to views of the Negombo fish market, The Negombo lagoon, Mangroves, various birds and wildlife, fishing villages and if you have joined us for an evening cruise, a spectacular view of the sunset.

A Boat Ride Colombo to Negombo on the Dutch Canal

A memorable journey on a historical waterway

Visiting the Knuckles Mountain Range is never disappointing. With its range of 34 mountains, there are unlimited opportunities for adventure for those brave enough to seek it. Some paths will challenge you physically while others will challenge the limits of your mind and open it to a new and incredible experience of nature. 

The mountains range from 900 to 2,000 metres in height and you can witness a large variety of animals, trees and plants living in this rich environment which thrives under the protection of environmental laws.  

Today let us embark on a journey to a place in Knuckles which has both natural and historical value. Manigala mountain has a long history associated with the tale of Ravana and is also called Ravanathenna, because it is believed that Ravana landed his legendary vehicle the Dandu Monara on its peak. The name Manigala presumably comes from the word Mani meaning Time in Tamil as Indian Tamils who migrated here as tea workers and for other various jobs, used Manigala to determine the time by measuring the amount of sunlight falling on its face. 

There is a large open space at the peak of Manigala which is affected by high speed and sometimes dangerous winds. The trees at the peak tend to be stunted in their growth because of this. The lack of trees causes the peak to get overheated therefore we recommend making this journey as early in the morning as possible. From the peak you will be greeted by stunning views of the forests and waterfalls, cultivated fields and the entire Knuckles Mountain range which has made it a very popular destination for hiking, camping and photography enthusiasts.

The journey is not difficult and can be attempted with moderate fitness. However if the hike to the ridge which is 1,104 metres high is too daunting, check out some of our other options to explore Knuckles with our Knuckles 5 peaks package and our 2 day camping adventure at Knuckles.

A Hiking Adventure in Manigala

Transcend the ordinary world for an extraordinary experience. 

As the monsoon season has started in the island, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in the Kurunegala and surrounding hilly areas. 

Dolukanda is situated in the Hiripitiya village in the Kurunegala district in the dry zone of Sri Lanka. It is an enormous inselberg. According to the legend of this rock it is said that when Lord Hanuman was carrying the Great Himalaya Mountain, some parts of it fell on top of Dolukanda. It is also said that it has herb forests filled with magical herbs with supernatural powers believed to cure any disease.

The hike to the top takes about 2 hours and is quite easy. The summit offers 360 degree views of the surrounding lush green lowlands, and this astounding view of the surrounding landscape will accompany you all the way down Dolukanda’s staggering 350 foot rock wall in the abseiling adventure.

Our journey begins in Dolukanda Village at around 8AM where we will all meet and get acquainted with each other. 

We hope you are ready for the hike. It will take around 2 hours to complete the 3.7km walk to the summit. 

No activity is enjoyable unless the rules are in place. Our guides and instructors will conduct the session on safety and show you how to use the activity equipment and tools. Listen closely! 

And now we’re ready. Take a step into the unknown and enjoy abseiling down this magnificent 350ft rock wall.

Katusukonda is a part of the Hanthana Mountain Range in Sri Lanka, which is a popular destination for adventure lovers. Katusukonda means “lizard’s back” in Sinhala, because it looks like a narrow and rocky ridge. Walking on it can be very risky and thrilling, as you can see the steep drops on both sides. 

Our team is ready to take you on a challenging trek accompanied by stunning views on all sides. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding hills, valleys, and forests from the top of Katusukonda. 

Katusukonda hiking can be a rewarding experience for those who seek adventure and challenge. It can also be a great opportunity to witness the natural beauty and diversity of Sri Lanka. The edge of the ridge is only about one meter wide. You have to be very careful and confident, as any mistake can lead to unpleasant results. We also advise you to carry enough water, food, and a flashlight as we venture into wild territories.

As we venture out into the untamed borders of nature, anything can happen. We have prepared the below itinerary so you can make the necessary preparations for your journey.  

The starting point for our journey is Kandy. We will be leaving at around 7:30 AM.

The journey will take you past the Victoria reservoir, Kandyan home gardens, terrace rice fields, mid-country tea plantations and exotic wood reforests. 

We will reach the starting point and be ready to set off by 9:30 AM. (Read our general terms and conditions for instructions and safety advice)

We have a long eventful hike planned out for you. With lots to see and encounter for an unforgettable experience. If all goes well we expect to reach the summit by 1:00 PM. Take a look at the magnificent view around and feel your exhaustion disappear.

The Forestry Department of Sri Lanka has implemented a reforestry project, an initiative taken to ensure that these gifts of nature will be carefully preserved for years to come. The cultivation of many different exotic trees and plant life with Cardamom plants in the undergrowth. These forests house a large variety of wildlife and if you're lucky you'll see an eagle or two in all their glory. The animals have made these forests their home, so we should respect and protect them as much as we can. Challenging

Our journey begins at 7:30 AM. The drive will take you from Kandy to the hills at the eastern foot of the Knuckles mountain range.

We will begin our trek with an opportunity to look out over the edge of the Mini World's End. 

We will proceed along a jeep track with the view of the Eastern valley dotted with mountains.

On the way, we will be passing through the reforest project initiated by our Government Forestry Department. 

After a refreshing hike, we will settle down to enjoy the deliciously prepared picnic lunch.

If you feel like it, we'll have a chance to take a dip in a natural pool before reaching our campsite. 

Welcome to our Knuckles Range Sky Camp. We have tented accommodation prepared and our blazing campfire will keep you safe and warm as you settle down under the stars. After having a good meal of course.

Wake up campers. How was your night outside? 

We will continue our trekking adventure at 8:30 AM after enjoying our freshly prepared breakfast.

Our trail will lead us past tea plantations, natural and second-generation forests on our way to Corber's Gap viewpoint.

Proceed along past pygmy forests, Be amazed by cloud forests and reach a grassy plateau which will lead to the plantation village at the foot of the hill.

After the first taste of a night under the stars are you ready for more? Let's spend our second night in the comforts of our tents or you can opt to stay at indoors in the village. 

Our day begins with breakfast after which at 8 am we will set off from camp to the hideout village of the last King of Sri Lanka, The noble Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe. 

While hiking past the sights, sounds and wonders of our natural surroundings, we will have an opportunity to indulge in another refreshing plunge in a river along the way.

We'll reach the village where our journey began with three days of memories to carry home with us. Our colleagues will be waiting for you to take you back to the hill capital of Kandy by 6:00 PM the latest.

Our country has been gifted with mountains, forests and oceans filled with opportunities to witness the wonder of nature firsthand. 

The Horton Plains National Park in Ohiya is a protected area and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site on 30th July 2010 because of the large number of endemic flora and fauna species there. It is the coldest and windiest location in Sri Lanka. Horton Plains consists of an ecosystem such as montane evergreen forests, grasslands, marshy lands and an aquatic ecosystem. This plateau is positioned at an altitude of 2100 – 2300 metres is rich in biodiversity and many of the species found here are endemic to the region. Horton Plains is spread across over 3169 hectares of the highest tableland of the island. 

The montane forest of Horton Plains is the primary source of three major rivers of Sri Lanka, the Mahaweli river the longest river in Sri Lanka, the Walawe river and the Kelani river.

Something amazing to look forward to is standing at the top of Worlds end. The World's End is an escarpment that has a fall of a sheer 900 meters. 

The destination of most hikers is Worlds End. The main trek taking a circular route can be enjoyed over 3 hours and the trail opens up with an expansive panoramic view of flora, bare patina grassland, and densely wooded cloud forests. 

At a distance of mere 200 metres beyond World’s End, the trek turns off the ridge inland to another lovely attraction: Baker’s fall named after Samuel Baker. The most often sighted wildlife at Horton Plains are herds of Sambar Deer. 

Among the other mammals in the park are Stripe necked Mongoose, Long Tailed Giant Squirrel Wild Boar, the endemic Bear Monkey and Toque Monkey. When the hikers reach the summit of Worlds End, they can enjoy the panoramic view of mountain ranges and also when they look down from Worlds End they can see Balangoda Town, another ancient city in Sri Lanka.

A Hike through the Nature Trail of Horton Plains

A small backpack to carry a few essential items and snacks while on the hike.

We know that everyone is going to put their phone cameras into overdrive so bring protective covers for them if you plan to take them along for the hike so that you don't have to worry about them in case of rain.

Carry a bottle of Dettol antiseptic (Available anywhere) to quickly detach any leeches that may cling to you. Beware of allergies to insect bites and stings.

Some of your best memories are made in hiking shoes. 

We’re here with an opportunity for you to hike up Kirigalpotta Mountain which is the 2nd highest mountain in Sri Lanka. Standing at 2,388 m (7,835 ft) above mean sea level,  this mountain is the highest mountain in the country whose summit is accessible to the general public. This 14 km (both ways) trail will take about 6 hours of mountaineering, trekking and hiking.

Our trek begins at Horton Plains National Park. Feel the thrill of hiking up the mountain via a single overgrown trail with several difficult hiking and mountaineering sections. Pass through scenic grass plains, cloud forests, bogs and steep rocky surfaces. Discover the exceedingly beautiful nature and varied wildlife in Horton Plains and Kirigalpoththa. Enjoy lunch surrounded by the mountains. Take photographs of the best views, better than the view from World’s End. 

The best view is from the ledge just before the summit. The view from the actual peak cannot compare to it, but the path drops away to cliffs on both sides which is quite thrilling!

This is a 7km hike that is so difficult and treacherous that one in nine hikers are not able to finish the trek to the peak. Best attempted by the toughest and most experienced hikers. This hike is recommended from January to March but is also available from June to August.

If you are not sure if you can overcome the mountain, try our nature trail hike through Horton Plains for a similar but easier experience.

The experience is well suited to any group as a personal or corporate outing. If you wish to enjoy a bit of adventure while you’re here, please consider reserving an evening Kayak ride out on the lagoon. We can incorporate the Kayak adventure into your schedule for a small additional cost.

Let's get started with our activities. As mentioned before we have Air rifle shooting, Archery, and pond fishing for you to try. None of the activities are compulsory but they do add a lot of fun to the outing.

Let’s head over to the fish spa where the expert masseuse fish are waiting for you. 

It's time for lunch. We have prepared the meal in traditional Sri Lankan style and we guarantee that it’s perfect and satisfying for hungry adventurers.

After we enjoy our lunch and dessert it’s time to take in the sights. Feel free to explore the area and enjoy the scenery and wildlife as well as see the fishermen go about their daily activities.

Time for a small snack and a refreshing cup of freshly brewed tea.

Often cloaked in thick layers of cloud, this miracle of nature houses more than 34 percent of Sri Lanka's endemic trees, shrubs, and herbs and was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 2010. The range comprises nine peaks over 1200 meters (4000 ft) in height. Although the country's forestry department has various reforestation projects up and running, The cultivation of cardamom on a large scale in the montane forests is a major threat to the fragile forest ecosystem.

As we venture out into the untamed borders of nature, anything can happen. We have prepared the below itinerary so you can make the necessary preparations for your journey.  

We’ll begin our adventure from Kandy. We will be leaving at around 7:30 AM.

The journey to our starting point will take you past the Victoria reservoir, Kandyan home gardens, terrace rice fields, mid-country tea plantations and exotic wood reforests. 

We will reach the starting point and be ready to set off by 9:30 AM. (Read our general terms and conditions for instructions and safety advice)

We have a long eventful hike planned out for you. With lots to see and encounter for an unforgettable experience. We hope to complete our journey to the top by 1:00 PM. The view will be more than worth it.

A Hike to the Famous Leopard Rock

An adventure of a lifetime in the beautiful village of Meemure. Come join us on a trek through the jungle to discover hidden waterfalls and test your endurance and feel a rush of adrenaline as you leap into the waters of Suriya Arana river, Explore the mysterious and awe-inspiring beauty of the ancient Knuckles mountain range, spend the night under the open sky in a well-equipped campsite with delicious aromatic barbeque meals and a warm glowing campfire.

This adventure is planned out over three days. If you want to experience the fun but are short on time we have a two-day package prepared that will satisfy your need for adventure.

Known as one the most remote villages in Sri Lanka, Meemure is located bordering the Kandy and Matale districts. The population of the village is approximately 420, and it can only be accessed via one road. As a result of this, the village has remained isolated and has maintained a very traditional culture dating back 500 years. 

The closest city to Meemure is Hunnasgiriya which is 40km away. The road from Hunnasgiriya to Meemure is paved with breathtaking views of thick green jungles,  hills and towering mountains and waterfalls.

The meals we have prepared for you are all using ingredients that are cultivated in the village and homes of the villagers and also sourced from the nearby jungles.

We recommend you leave the ordinary behind and take a break from civilization. Opt for our campsite accommodation where you can experience freedom from the constraints and limits of modern life. We can also provide guest house accommodation if preferred.

__The road to Meemure has been repaired due to its popularity as a tourist destination. It is now possible to drive your private vehicles to the village without concern. However, we are also prepared to provide transport subject to an additional charge.__

A Hunt for Waterfalls at Meemure

An interesting fact : Out of the total land area of the country, Sri Lanka has a forest cover of 29.9% as at 2022, a noticeable drop from 34.16% in 2020 out of which 8.6% is classified as Primary Forest - being the most biodiverse category of forest available.

We are fortunate and blessed to be host to many different species of wildlife in our country and we have created an opportunity for you to witness the untamed beauty of nature in the Udawalawe National Park up close.

The Sri Lankan Elephant is native to our country and is one of three recognized subspecies of the Asian Elephant. It is the largest and also the darkest of the Asian elephants, with patches of depigmentation—areas with no skin color—on its ears, face, trunk and belly. Once found throughout the country, these elephants are now being pushed into smaller areas as development activities clear forests and disrupt their ancient migratory routes.

The Udawalawe National park itself is man made and was created to provide a sanctuary for Elephants and other wild animals displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir on the Walawe River. It is a paradise for wild creatures and is the third most visited park in the country.

The Safari tour will take place in the afternoon as this is the time that the highest number of elephants are reported to be seen around the paths.

Our tour begins in the afternoon approximately around 2pm as evening is the best time to see the Elephants that reside in the park.

The jeeps will arrive and transport you to the park where the tour will begin.
